Speed Gates & Barriers – Oslo and Norway
Speed gates, turnstiles and barriers ensure that only authorised persons enter – elegantly, quickly and reliably. Perfect for lobbies, receptions and atriums in commercial buildings and public institutions.
Physical access control for the lobby
A speed gate or turnstile is the physical element of access control – the one that actually stops unauthorised persons. Combined with card readers, facial recognition or PIN codes, you get a complete system that handles large volumes of people quickly and safely.
Products we deliver
We supply and install three main types of physical access control – all with the option to integrate with existing access control systems.
Swing Barrier
The swing barrier has wide glass wings that open quickly and silently on authorised passage. It delivers an exclusive and modern look in the lobby, and is ideal for office buildings and hotels with high pedestrian traffic.
- Adjustable lane width
- Infrared movement sensors
- IR&D motor control algorithm
- Failsafe opening on fire alarm
Flap Barrier
The flap barrier uses retractable flaps instead of glass wings. It delivers optimal passage efficiency and is especially suitable where space is limited. Robust and rigorously tested for heavy use in high-traffic environments.
- Optimal throughput speed
- Compact design – fits narrow openings
- Manufactured and rigorously tested
- Low noise and high operational reliability
Swing Gate
The swing gate is a flexible solution with two height options and remote control. Perfect for wider passages, wheelchair users and situations where you need a wide free opening alongside speed gates.
- Flexible installation
- Two height options available
- Remote control as standard
- Seamless integration with speed gates
Types of access barriers
We supply and install all variants of physical access control – tailored to your building and requirements.
Speed Gate
Glass-wing barriers with fast and silent open/close. Delivers an exclusive and modern look in the lobby. High throughput and integrated with the access control system. Ideal for office buildings and hotels with many daily passages.
Tripod Barrier
Compact and robust barrier with three arms that rotate on authorised passage. Cost-effective choice for office buildings, parking facilities and outdoor use. Withstands weather and wear, and works in all conditions.
Full-Height Turnstile
Full-height turnstile that blocks the entire passage. Used where high security is critical – server rooms, warehouses and facilities with restricted access. Requires active authorisation for each passage in both directions.
Optical Barrier / Flap Gate
Discreet sensors and retractable flappers instead of glass wings. Slim design with low profile height – perfect for locations with architectural requirements or universal design needs.
Where are speed gates and barriers used?
Physical access control is suitable wherever you want to manage pedestrian traffic, prevent unauthorised entry and create order – without slowing down those who have access.
Airports and Transport Hubs
Boarding control, security lanes and VIP zones at airports are classic use cases. Turnstiles and flap barriers handle thousands of passages per day without queues.
Gyms and Fitness Centres
Ensures that only paying members can enter, eliminating the need for a staffed reception at all times. The membership card or app opens the gate automatically.
Office Buildings and Receptions
Speed gates in the lobby separate the public area from the office floors. Employees use a card or mobile, while guests are registered in the visitor system and receive temporary access.
Self-Service Stores and Checkout Areas
Barriers at the checkout ensure customers do not leave without paying. Integrates with the POS system – the gate opens automatically after completed payment.
Hotels
Control access to floors, spa, gym and conference rooms. The room key automatically grants access to the facilities the guest is entitled to.
Hospitals and Clinics
Separates public areas from patient and staff departments. Staff cards grant access to wards, while visitors are registered and logged.
Universities and Schools
Student cards or apps control access to campus, libraries and laboratories. Prevents intruders and provides a log of who is in the building at any given time.
Stadiums and Sports Venues
Ticket validation and zone access in large crowds. High-throughput turnstiles ensure fast entry without congestion and guarantee that only ticket holders can enter.
Integration with access control
Access barriers work best as part of a comprehensive security system.
Card readers and fobs
The gate opens by holding a card or mobile phone to the reader. Works with all common card technologies such as MIFARE, DESFire and HID.
Facial recognition
Integrates with biometric cameras for touchless, fast and hygienic access.
PIN code and app
Access via PIN keypad or mobile app – no physical key required.
Reception and visitor systems
The receptionist can open the gate for guests directly from the PC. Automatic opening for pre-registered visits.
Benefits of access barriers

- Elegant design that elevates the lobby environment
- Integrates with existing access control systems
- Reduces the need for manual guard presence at reception

A speed gate has retractable glass wings and provides an exclusive, open feel in the lobby with high throughput speed. A full-height turnstile provides a higher physical security level since the entire passage is blocked. The choice depends on security requirements, aesthetics and traffic volume.
All barriers are equipped with failsafe opening: in a fire alarm or power failure the barriers open automatically and lock in the open position for free evacuation.
Yes, most access barriers support open standards (Wiegand, OSDP) which makes it easy to connect them to existing access control systems from Axis, Paxton, Lenel, Honeywell and others.
Yes. All speed gates come with a wider passage opening for wheelchair users. They can be configured so the wide opening is always free, or opened by staff/card.
