What is an open key profile?
An open key profile means keys can be freely copied at most locksmiths and key cutters. This is practical but provides lower security since you have no control over who has copied keys.
Closed key profile
With a closed (patent-protected) key profile, keys can only be copied by authorized locksmiths with documentation. This gives full control over key administration.
