FG (Forsikringsselskapenes Godkjennelsesnevnd – the Norwegian Insurance Approvals Board) approves safes and security cabinets following systematic testing of burglary resistance and, where relevant, fire protection. Insurers typically require FG approval for the contents to be covered in the event of a claim – the wrong product can result in a rejected payout. We only stock products with the relevant approvals and help you interpret the requirements in your insurance policy.
Most shops need a cash safe (drop safe) or a front-loading till safe with FG approval. The choice of class is driven by the insured sum and daily cash volume. Fire cabinets and fire-resistant storage
A fire cabinet or fire-resistant safe provides double protection: against theft and against fire. Many businesses and individuals are aware of the burglary risk, but underestimate fire damage – a short-lived fire can destroy everything that is not fire-protected, including valuable documents, digital storage media and items of significant sentimental or monetary value. Fire cabinets are classified by two parameters: fire resistance time and type of contents.
Paper safes (P-class)
Protects paper documents, banknotes and similar items from fire. Internal temperature is kept below 170 °C during a fire. Classified at 30, 60, 90 and 120 minutes of fire resistance. Suitable for contracts, wills, passports and insurance documents.
Data safes (DIS/D-class)
For storing USB drives, memory cards, hard drives and optical media that are far more sensitive to heat and moisture than paper. Internal temperature is kept below 50–55 °C and humidity below 85%. Critical for organisations that hold original data on physical media.
Fire-resistant security cabinets (combined class)
Combines a burglary rating (FG-approved) with fire protection. Ideal for shops and businesses that need a single cabinet covering both risk scenarios. Insurers often require this to cover both theft and fire damage.
Fire-resistant archive cabinets
Large upright cabinets – typically archive format – for organisations handling large volumes of physical documents and archive material. Suitable for local authorities, law firms, audit houses and estate agents. Provides generous capacity combined with 60–120 minutes of fire protection.

Secure rooms and high-security storage
A secure room is a room that has been physically and technically reinforced for the safe storage of assets, sensitive documents or high-value easy-to-sell goods in volumes beyond what a safe can handle. This is not a vault – it is an ordinary room upgraded with a combination of reinforced construction, FG-approved doors and locks, intruder alarm, CCTV and, where needed, access control.
Retail and merchandise
Shops handling high-value easy-to-sell goods – electronics, jewellery, sports equipment, premium clothing – need staff access during opening hours but robust overnight security. A secure room gives staff quick and efficient access while goods are locked away and monitored outside opening hours. Typical solution: reinforced steel-clad door with access card, motion alarm and camera inside the room.
Businesses handling sensitive documentation
Law firms, audit houses, estate agents and public bodies handling large volumes of confidential documents, original contracts or archive material need secure storage with controlled access. A secure room provides far greater capacity than even large document safes can offer.
Pharmacies and medication handling
Pharmacies with large stocks of Schedule A and B medications, and clinics with expensive pharmaceuticals, have requirements for room-based security. A dedicated medication secure room with access control and CCTV satisfies Legemiddelverket requirements and provides a traceable audit log for authorised personnel.
